3.The three aspects of Koreanization
Steve Capener wrote;
"The process of Koreanization consisted of three main aspects.",
"The first was the selection of a new, non-Japanese name.", "The
second was the creation of a system of techniques and training which was
distinctly different from that of karate," and "the third was
the attempt to establish t'aegwondo's existence and development within
tile historical flow of Korean civilization."
Let's look what Korean associations are doing in Karatedo and Kendo.
First aspect is the selection of a new, non-Japanese name. I want to call
this "Out-of-Japanese phase". In the case of Karatedo, Karatedo
was named taekwondo (at first, "tekkyon"). Kumdo associations
named Kendo kumdo (or gumdo). This renaming aims at eliminating Japanese
feelings from Japanese culture. But these renamings themselves are not
always based on the obvious intentions of cultural invasions at first.
For example, Karatedo was misrepresented as tekkyon for fear of first president, Lee Seungman's displeasure.
But that's not all. They change from the names of Karate's patterns to
the cries of Kendo's proctice at their own sweet wills.
"The second was the creation of a system of techniques and training which was distinctly different from "Japanese one." I want to call this "Differentiation phase".
In the case of Karatedo, Karatedo was changed to kicking-centered matches. This is main difference from original Karatedo. In the case of Kendo, the movement called "Sonkyo" removed from the procedure of matches. Unique Kendo uniforms are used. And in Korean domestic matches, umpires use white and blue flags instead of white and red flags
("Silla or Baekje Kumdo" group).
These differences can give a different image from Japanese one also to third countries.
Basically, what they are doing is little less than selling fake products,
but they seem to think it is lack in conviction to copy exactly Japanese
one. So they make some differences from Japanese original. We must say
these are very malicious activities.
In this phase, we can feel their transparent attempt at cultural invasion.
But as I have often indicated, not a few Korean people "believe only
what they want to believe". Because of this nature, it must be easy
to make Korean people believe every Japanese culture originated from Korea.
The transition from first phase(Out-of -Japanese = avoiding Japanese elements) to this phase
is easy, I think.
The third is "the attempt to establish t'aegwondo's existence and
development within tile historical flow of Korean civilization." I
want to call this "Justification phase". The fictional history
is fabricated and spread here. This fabricated history makes it easy for
some Korean people or associations to claim "This is one of Korean
culture." internationally. Needless to say, they fabricate the history
also about Kendo.

３．コリアナイゼーションの三段階

空手道と剣道で韓国系団体が何をしているのか見てみましょう。
第一段階は「日本のものではない名前の選択」ですが、これを仮に「脱日本化フェーズ」と名づけておきます。 空手道の場合、テコンドーと名づけられました（当初はテッキョン）。 剣道の場合、コムドと名づけられました。 このネーミングの目的は日本の文化から日本風な感じを消し去るのが目的です。 ただ、こうしたネーミング自体は当初から文化侵略的な意図があったとは限りません。 例えば空手道では、日本の武道であることがわかると大統領李承晩の不興を買うことを恐れて嘘をついたと伝えられています。
しかしそれだけでなく、さらに型や練習の掛け声まで好き勝手に変えていくわけです。
第二段階とは、日本のものとは「はっきりと違う技術と訓練のシステムを作り出すこと」です。これを仮に「差別化フェーズ」と名づけておきます。
空手道（テコンドー）の場合、足技中心の競技となったことが本来の空手とは主たる違いとなりました。
剣道の場合、韓国の国内大会では蹲踞なし、独自のコスチュームの採用、紅白の変わりに青白の審判旗を使用する
（新羅、百済系の場合）などを行っています。
これにより第三国向けにも日本のとは違うイメージを 提供できます。彼らは基本的にはコピー製品を売っているも同然なのですが、日本のコピーそのままでは信憑性に欠けると考えたのでしょう。そこで、日本のオリジナルと多少の違いを出すわけです。非常に悪質だと言えます。
もはやあからさまな文化侵略の意図が感じられます。しかし何度も指摘しているように、韓国においては「信じたいものだけを信じる」民族性のため、「日本的なものを忌避するため」の
最初のフェーズからこのフェーズへの移行はスムーズなものと考えられます。
第三段階とは、「韓国の文明の歴史の流れのタイルの中にテコンドーの存在を確立する（正統化）こと」です。これを仮に「正統化フェーズ」と名づけておきます。
歴史を捏造し、これを浸透させる。これによって、対外的に韓国文化と称することが容易になります。
剣道に関しても、同じように歴史を捏造していることは言うまでもありません。
